Biography

Guy is the winner of the first series of the Australian Idol television show. He was born in Malaysia but moved to Australia with his parents as a child. Before entering Australian Idol, Guy worked as a recording engineer and singing teacher. At an early age Guy took violin lessons, and although he had no formal training in playing other instruments, he also plays the drums, piano and guitar.

Since leaving the Australian Idol competition, Guy has not only had success in Australia, but has had success in a number of countries including New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. In these countries and Australia his debut single ‘Angles Brought Me Here’ reached number one in the charts.

Between 2003 and 2007 Guy released four top ten platinum selling albums with his debut album ‘Just as I Am’ charting at number one. So far in his career, Guy has been awarded ten platinum accreditations for his albums, the highest for an Australian Idol contestant.
