Julian Smith a brilliant saxophonist from Birmingham delivered
exceptional performances during Britain’s Got Talent to finish the
competition in third place behind Susan Boyle and Diversity.
Julian has been playing the saxophone for over twenty years, but
started his music career playing the clarinet before going to college
to study the bassoon. He took up the saxophone as a means of relaxing
after a heavy day at college. At his audition the 39 year old music
teacher left Amanda Holden in tears following his amazing rendition of
‘Somewhere Somehow’ from West Side Story.
Piers: He praised saxophonist Julian Smith, for "the look, the soul, the emotion." He also said "I think we’ve all been blown away by it.".
Amanda: Amanda was reduced to tears during the performance, and afterward while praising Julian Smith’s performance, calling it "stunning, absolutely, stunning," and said "To cry at a saxophone was not something I was not expecting,".
Simon: "The whole idea about doing this show is to find something who needs a break and has a huge talent, and I believe we’ve found that with you. Certain people, they’ve just got it. I think there could be something special about you."
