Leona Lewis won the third series of the UK TV show
The X Factor in 2006. Leona was born in Stoke Newington in London and
at the age of twelve wrote her first song.
Before entering the X Factor competition, she wrote and recorded a
number of songs that were never released. At her audition she stunned
the judges with a brilliant performance of the song Over The Rainbow.
After the competition, Simon Cowell took her to America to being work
on her first album Spirit. The album became a major success reaching
number one in the UK, Ireland, USA and a number of other countries
around the world. Her debut single A Moment Like This, broke the record
for the largest number of downloads in a thirty minutes time slot ever
achieved on the internet.
Leona's second single Bleeding Love, written by Ryan Tedder
and Jessey McCarthy was the biggest selling single in the UK in 2007.
It later went to number one in France and the United States.
