Rhydian Roberts is a classically trained singer from
Powy in
Wales. He studied music at university and during his gap year he went
to South Africa where he worked in a school near Pretoria.
During
the audition stages of the X Factor, Rydian split the judges with both
Simon Cowell and Sharon Osbourne not particularly keen on him. But
towards the end of the live shows, Rhydian managed to impress them with
his performances.
Rhydian Roberts was born in Brecon and comes from a family that is more
passionate about Rugby than singing. Rhydian picked up a ball at the
age of three, long before knowing what a microphone was. If it was
perhaps not for an injury he suffered at the age of 16 that seriously
impacted is ability to play top class Rugby, he may not have pursed a
music career.
In his earlier years, Rhydian was a boy soprano. At the age of 17 his
love for music took centre stage. He decided to start voice training as
well as taking up playing the trumpet and cornet. Rhydian also
furthered his education in music by taking an A level in the subject
before
going on to enrol at the Birmingham Conservatoire.
