George, a street dancer from Warrington won the second series of Britain’s Got Talent 2008. George could often be seen dancing in the streets of Manchester; it was there that he managed to raise the funds to travel to London to perform on Britain’s Got Talent. His very entertaining dance rendition of 'Singing In The Rain' in the semi-finals, not only secured him a place in the finals, but the repeat performance in the finals saw him secure the public vote for a worthy win. He will appear at the 2008 Royal Variety Performance to perform for Prince Charles.
Signature are a dance group who dazzled viewers with their brilliant dance style, mixing Michael Jackson dance moves with Indian Bhangra style dancing. Suleman Mirza and Madhu Sing from Essex are the two members of the group who met at Westminster University. Their decision to blend their talents in this way, almost gave them the opportunity to perform in front of Prince Charles as they were the runner-up in the competition.
Andrew is a boy Soprano from Carlisle who finished in third place in the Competition. He has the most amazing angelic tone to his voice but he revealed that he was bullied at school by those who did not appreciate his talent. At the start of the competition Andrew appeared to lack confident. But after his performance at the finals, the judges praised him for performing with improved confidence and said they have watched him become a man during the competition.
Kate and Gin are an excellent musical canine dance act. Kate Nicolas, a 16 years old animal management student from Shropshire and Gin her dog, a dancing Border Collie age 6, amazed viewers with their dance act. Gin was so good that Simon Cowell wonder if it was a real dog.
Faryl is a 12 years old opera singer from Kettering. She stunned the judges with her vocal range and brilliant performances through out the competition. She was widely tipped to win the show but that honour when to George Simpson. Faryl was described by the judges as having a voice of a woman twice her age. Faryl is now being billed as the next Charlette Church and although she did not win the competition, it is expected that she will go on to have a very successful music career.
Escala is a fantastic female string quartet from London. The group includes viola player Chantal Lyon, violinist Izzy Johnston, violinist Victoria Lyon and cellist Nastasya Hodges. The girls delivered memorable performances right through the competition, finishing with a very classy and glamour performance of Palladio in the finals.
Charlie Dixon age eight and Krista Hyatt age nine, are the two members of the dance duo Cheeky Monkeys from East Lancashire. They are enormously talented for ones so young. They put on a display of flips, splits and tumbles that entertained millions of viewers. They were put into the finals by Simon Cowell with the deciding vote when the group finished in the top three in their Simi-final round.
Strike is a very impressive martial arts duo who has managed to turn martial arts into light entertainment. Liam Richards, age 19 and Daniel Ball age 22 are the duo that dazzled viewers with their high energy mix of martial arts, gymnastics and dance. Liam from Sheffield and Daniel from Doncaster are hoping one day to break into the world of movies.
Andrew Muir from West Lothian is a very good singer with a great voice as he proved in the earlier rounds of the competition. However, he did not receive the same outstanding reviews from the judges like most of the other acts in the finals owing to his song choice. The judges thought the song, 'Imagine' by John Lennon, was the wrong type of song for him.
Nemisis, an excellent street dance crew from Milton Keynes, showed the nation a very different side to urban youth street culture. They performed their very impressive dance moves consisting of a mix of Break Dancing, Hip Hop and much more. They practice dancing at a bus shelter in Milton Keynes, but despite this they were good enough to secure a place in the finals. There is a feeling of hope, that with such exposure from their success in this competition, that this group will become role models for many young people in towns and cities across the country.
