Biography

David Cook is a very talented rock singer, songwriter and musician from Missouri. He began singing in school when his music teacher gave him a part in the school Christmas production. He was also a keen baseball player, but after an injury in high school he began to focus on music.

David started his music career doing musical productions. He performed in musicals such as Singing in the Rain and West Side Story. He also formed  a band called Axium with a few of his school pals. The band had local recognition performing local gigs and winning a number of competitions. After completing his university education, David joined another band playing the guitar and providing backing vocals.

Before auditioning for American Idol, David worked as a bartender but he also managed to record a solo album titled “Analog Heart”. During American Idol, David stood out from most of the other contestants because he produced highly professional performances drawing on his musical background. However, during the grand final of the competition the judges thought he was out performed by David Archuleta who was then expected to win the show. David Cook victory therefore came as some surprise to the judges and many viewers at home.
