Casey James is from Fort Worth, Texas and plays the guitar and
sings for his band named the Casey James Band. When Casey auditioned
for American Idol in Denver, he was asked to remove his shirt. The
judges, especially Kara DioGuardi and Victoria Beckham, wanted to take
a really close look at him.
In November 2001, the aspiring singer pled guilty to reckless driving,
was fined $200 and spent time in jail. In December 2002, he was
arrested for DUI and operating a vehicle with an invalid license. He
pled guilty again and was sentenced for a second time to prison.
Randy: You’re back to the Casey that I love, I honestly think
you could make a great album like this. I loved it! You are back for
me.
Ellen: Most women’s hearts will start racing just looking at
you..but then for people like me , blondes..I thought it was fantastic,
fantastic!!
Kara: I said a few weeks ago– you were ‘trying’ to be a rock
star..well tonight..You were a rock star!! This was your best
performance since we met.
Simon: I actually don’t agree with that– you look great, you
sang well but for me it was like an audition performance-not using the
stage and making it incredible, you’ve got to push yourself to
something more and use this stage and not just a guy singing in the
middle.
Randy Jackson: You know I’m a fan of yours, and I love you
playing the guitar. I think you’re probably the best musician guitar
player we’ve ever had on here. I wasn’t a fan of the song choice, but I
gotta give you props, you did it well.
Ellen DeGeneres: Same here, I was not a fan of the song
choice. I think there was a much better song. But that being said, I
think it was the best vocal of the night. You sounded great.
Kara: You’re just on another level. If you had ten hit songs,
you’re just ready to make an album. TYou’re just there, it’s all there.
It just gets better and better.
Simon Cowell: Casey, I promise you, this is not personal. I
don’t know what you’re listening to Kara, because that song is old
fashioned. He didn’t make it current, he did an identifiable version of
the Huey Lewis version. It was like watching and listening to an 80’s
cover band. There was no effort, no originality. Nothing different.
Maybe it’s just me, maybe it’s because I’m English.
